TEACHER'S CORNER

I Knew That is a fun way for your students to learn and practice their math skills. They have so much fun playing these games, they don't even realize they're learning and re-enforcing their math skills.

Click on the video link on the Home Page for a demonstration.

Here is how to play the game(s): Shuffle both decks really good. Each player gets 7 of the solution cards(blue) and lay them out answers up. The youngest person goes first. The player picks up a problem card(yellow) and sees if (he/she has the solution to that problem. If they do, they make a pair and continue to play. If they don't, they pick up a solution card from the deck. If that card makes a pair then they continue to play. if not, that ends their turn. The one on that person's left is the next player. Who ever has the most pairs wins.

There are five different versions of the games.

Multiplication Version, Division Version, Addition Version, Subtraction Version, and Pre-School Version (this is not a math game)

These games are intended for students in grades from pre-school to the 6th grade.

A teacher from Lomie Heard Elementary School, Las Vegas, Nev., writes "The students in my class learned addition and subtraction facts and had FUN playing "I Knew That". The students would choose the "I Knew That" games over other math games and flash cards. My students range in ages from 6-10 years and they all enjoyed playing the games and brushed up on their math facts."---Mrs. Hodge---

These Games can be played in groups. Set a time limit for your students. Tell them, they have 10 minutes. At the end of 10 minutes who ever has the most pairs wins. Pass out the solution cards instead of the problem cards and have them play. That will really get them thinking.
